Unlocated Works of Art

There are still several Waterhouse paintings which are unaccounted for today. Some are known by a black and white reproduction, but others are entirely unknown. The list below divides such paintings into four groups:

  1. Paintings which are listed as unlocated in monographs on Waterhouse, and for which there are no reproductions available.
  2. Paintings which are listed as unlocated, but for which black & white, or colour, reproductions exist.
  3. Paintings which were listed as unlocated, but have reappeared during the past decade.
  4. Paintings which may have been located.

This list covers only the pictures which were exhibited during Waterhouse's lifetime. In addition to the ones listed below, there are pictures which were not exhibited and which are lost today, for example, a picture of Elaine from Arthurian legend.

Of course, it goes without saying, that if you have more information about any of the 'unlocated' pictures below, please get in touch!
