Anthony Hobson's 1980 monograph of Waterhouse, The Art and Life of J.W. Waterhouse, RA, 1849-1917, is now a collector's item, and is only available from used book dealers. It includes a useful catalogue raisonné.

Articles published in The Studio and The Art Journal during Waterhouse's lifetime are also still available through used book dealers.
