Albert Moore and his Contemporaries
An exhibition of pictures by Moore and fellow painters, including Whistler, Rossetti and Leighton.
From the Exhibition Catalogue's Foreward:
"This is the first time the works of Albert Moore have been assembled on a large scale since the exhibition held at the City of York Art Gallery entitled 'The Moore Family Pictures'. After sixty years of comparative neglect, the time is indeed ripe for a re-assessment of the work of this strange lonely artist who was nurtured in the atmosphere of the Pre-Raphaelites, who turned to the classical world of Greece for inspiration, but who in his unwavering love of colour for its own sake, pointed the way to 20th century abstract art."
