Miriamne no longer at AGNSW
MESSAGE:
For anyone that was thinking of seeing Miriamne at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the painting has gone back to the Schaeffer collection. Diogenese is still inplace as the only remaining JW painting.

I think Mariamne is a remarkable painting, something I only truly realised when I saw it in the recent exhibitions. Has to be seen to be believed. Huge loss for the gallery, methinks!
Yes ... so glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her at the exhibition when it was in Montreal ... so sorry the painting won't be available for the public to enjoy any longer.

Having had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with Miriamne and studying the surface I'm preparing another article on the painting techniques used. Unlike my last effort this one will pick up on a number of areas and how they are treated. A bit of commentary on the pencil under drawing will make its way in to the article. It may be a few weeks before I finish the article as I'm renovating and time is getting hard to find.
