Miranda

MESSAGE:
Does anybody know where Miranda (the small 1916 version that was in the recent exhibitions) is housed? In the exhibition catalogue it says the Maas Gallery but doing a search on their website doesn't bring it up although the catalogue does say it's from the Nicky and Roma Ryan collection (they of Enya fame). My search did bring up a sketch of Nino's that I've never seen before which was a pleasant surprise which, if it has worked, I've posted below.

Kind regards,

Jim

 RESPONSES:

Nope, no luck with the image (seems to be a problem posting images on this site). Follow this link and enter Waterhouse in the artist field and you'll find the sketch I've mentioned :)
Jimma thanks for the link to the drawing. I've recently started collecting old The Studio Magazine issues, these have JW drawings printed in a number of editions.. these are drawings that I've not seen before.

It might be best to approach the Maas to see if they do have the painting in their holdings on loan from the Ryans. Or they may have organised the loan to the exhibition and might be able to help with its normal location.
Cheers, Neil. I might email the Maas and see what they know. It's no big deal, really (I'm just curious, as ever).

I'd not seen those drawings myself and now and again I find similar sketches which I didn't know existed! I love finding them. I might do a web-page one day (or web site, even) where I'll collect all his pictures. It'd be great to see all of these less known works of Nino's in one place :)

Kind regards,

Jim
Jimma that web page would be a great addition to the material available.

If you have not seen them there are a few drawings at http://www.victorianweb.org/painting/jww/drawings/index.html

One of these images was contributed by the MAAS and there is a contact name in the credits.

I'll send over what ever I find in The Studio (the State Library has a full set from 1893 on, but I can only get there a few times a year).
