the works of the Pre-Raphaelites
MESSAGE:
Recently wandering around London near the British Museum, I came across the home where many of these incredibly gifted artists lived. I just stood there marvelling. I remember when I was young, I would often visit the Birmingham Museum of Art that contains some of the most beautiful pre-Raphaelite paintings and even then was mesmerized by them. When I stayed in Bellagio, Italy I was inspired to write the following as I turned the pages of a book filled with Waterhouse art work. MUSINGS by LAKE GARDA The lake is quiet now Yesterday it ate the shore And spumed itself upon the land I watched the ships go sailing by The sun fell upon blue waters The lake is quiet now The gardens of the villa go down to the lake But do not know that yesterday The waters shimmered and danced The dead eyes of the statues Gaze upon the lake Once they saw the waves lapping at the shore The lake is quiet now I gaze upon you again And my eyes drink in your beauty The full roundness of your bosom Your long white limbs I stroke you with my eyes And twine my tresses around your neck Deeper and tighter until you are dead
