MESSAGE:
You have a lot of fascinating images on your site. I would like to use the photo of Jane Morris seated, next to Reverie on my site, which is: The Poets' Space But I would like to find out a bit more information: 1. Where did you get the photo of Jane Burden Morris? 2. Who took the photo? It's a great contrast and comparative to the pastel that Rossetti did. Any info would be appreciated. Best, Susan a/k/a chiaroscuro p.s. Do have the embed code for the YouTube Christina Rossetti’s ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ Sung by Sarah Brightman? I'd like to use that as well - proper credit to you for all this info of course. Thanks!
RESPONSES:
Wow, after reading your message, I visited your site and enjoyed it very much! I'll add a link to it on my site. The photo was emailed to me several weeks ago by a frequent visitor to my site. I didn't ask where she got it, but I'll email her today. From what I've read and found on google, Rossetti posed several photos of Jane, which were were photographed by J. Robert Parsons. Here is some information I found about the Rossetti/Parsons photos: http://www1.walthamforest.gov.uk/wmg/photosd.htm I shared the photo because of all the photos of Jane, this one spoke to me. Perhaps it is because she seems to have more eye contact with the camera than a few of the other poses, and of course it is so similar to Reverie that I believe DGR must have painted it using this photo. You can also see a smaller version of the photo on this page of the POSSESSED: A Musical website (which I think is a fascinating project! I hope that the authors of it succeed in having it produced.) http://www.possessedamusical.com/ Here is the embed code for the video. I hope it works, I think posting it may automatically generate underscores. If so, I can email it to you if you'd like.
OK, I see the embed code didn't work in the message above. I'll see if I can send it to you through a message on your site.
I'll come back to this Stephanie - didn't have much time to do anything this evening, so I'll have to return. Will probably play with the code over the weekend when I have some more time. Thanks.
OK - got the code, etc. in for my site. Will get back to that photo and Reverie soon - I hope! ;)
This page: http://www.possessedamusical.com/ gives me all I need to know on the photo. Thanks, Stephanie.
I liked the Allison Crowe video a lot - the whole rendition - liked her presentation, voice. What to do.. what to do.. :) I think I'll leave as is - Sarah looks like a Pre-Raphaelite gal. ;)
