Relationship to john william waterhouse:Fellow artist, friend, and neighbour at Primrose Hill Studios. Brief Biography:WHYMPER, Charles, R.I. (1853-1941) Painter in oil and water-colour of animal and sporting subjects, landscapes and genre. Born in London on 31st August 1853, son of Josiah Wood Whymper, R.I. (1813-1903). Exhibited at the R.A. from 1882. Illustrated books on travel, sport, and natural history, including Egyptian Birds and Bird Life. He also produced some etchings of shooting and fishing subjects. Lived at Houghton in Huntingdonshire and died on 25th April 1941. Source: Dictionary of British Artists Working 1900-1950, Grant M. Waters, Eastbourne, 1975.
