Attended Waterhouse's funeral in 1917. Brief Biography:OULESS, Walter William (1848-1933) Portrait and genre painter in oil. Born on 21st September 1848 at St. Helier, Jersey, son of P.J. Ouless, a marine painter. Came to London in 1864 and studied art at the R.A. Schools 1865-69. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1869 and elected A.R.A. 1877, R.A. 1881. Won gold and silver medals at Berlin, Munich, Vienna and Paris. He initially painted genre, but later turned to portraiture, at which he was immensely successful.
