Brief Biography:

BRAMLEY, Frank, R.A., N.E.A.C. (1857-1915)

Genre and portraits in oil. Born at Sibsey, Lincolnshire, on 6th May 1857. Studied art at the Lincoln School of Art and at Antwerp. A member of the Newlyn School and closely associated with Stanhope Forbes. Exhibited at the R.A. from 1884, and elected A.R.A. 1893 and R.A. 1911. A Hopeless Dawn was bought by the Chantrey Fund in 1888 and is now in the Tate Gallery. In the last 20 years of his life he turned from genre to portraiture. A foundation member of the N.E.A.C. 1886. Died at Chalford Hill, Gloucestershire, on 9th August 1915.
